ABOUT:
Sarah Jane Elhardt has been teaching music with kids and adults for 13 years. Sarah graduated from Augsburg College with an emphasis in piano and French horn and has continued to freelance as a musician in the Twin Cities. Before opening her private studio, Sarah taught with the Yamaha Music Education system for years and completed their rigorous teacher exams and certification program. She is a current member of MMTA and MTNA, which allows many performance opportunities for her students. She enjoys and incorporates differing styles of music into her teaching and encourages students to be creative as well as diligent in their study.
Sarah lives in the Sheridan neighborhood of Northeast Minneapolis and is a large supporter of her community. She is thrilled to offer musical education to the surrounding area.

FAQ
What does a lesson involve?
Each lesson will have a balance of theory, ear training, piano repertoire development, and finger exercises. As each student starts their musical education journey, we access what the student wants to focus on and learn. Lessons will be tailored to focus on their interests whether it’s note reading, jazz, vocal and ear training, or pop music!
Do I need a piano?
At the very least, you’ll need a keyboard with weighted keys. Down the road, a piano is highly recommended.
Do I need to practice?
Absolutely! In order to improve at the piano, there must be dedication beyond the weekly lessons with the goal being daily practice.
Can we do group piano?
Yes, there are discounted rates for teaching two children together for a 45 minute lesson.
